French opaline glass emerged in the early 19th century, reaching peak popularity during the Empire and Restoration periods under Napoleon and King Louis Philippe. Prized for its soft, milky translucence and produced primarily in Baccarat and Saint-Louis, opaline was often used for decorative objects such as perfume bottles, boxes, and vases. It was typically hand-blown and came in delicate shades like turquoise, white, pink, and green. This light pistachio green opaline glass jar is from the 1800s to early 1900s.
