George Baxter is renowned for pioneering the commercially viable color illustrated print process, patented in 1835. This intricate technique involved etching scenes onto metal plates, followed by his personal color blending and presswork. The outcome was stunningly vibrant illustrations, unrivaled in their time. Despite lacking business acumen, Baxter's technique attracted affluent clientele, including Queen Victoria. This piece "Chalees Satoon, East India," printed in 1850, is a testament to his artistry.
