Amber, known for its a brownish honey color, and comes from ancient trees where the sap has fossilized for over millions of years. Amber is said to have many healing properties and was discovered to be used in making jewelry since 11,000 B.C. This necklace is from the Victorian era and most likely dates from the mid to late 1800s; with the clasp being carved from amber.
