Black and Gold Foil Glass Oval Cabochon Signed Artisan Clip Earrings

Gold foil glass, known in the Venetian tradition as vetro con foglia d’oro, is made by sandwiching paper thin gold leaf between layers of molten glass and intentionally crackling the leaf during forming to create organic veined patterns that read like aged marble or ancient lacquerware. These clip earrings set large oval gold foil glass cabochons in gold bezels, with the signature black ground showing dramatic gold veining across the surface of each stone. Signed by hand on the reverse of each clip and preserved in beautiful condition, these black and gold foil glass oval cabochon artisan clip earrings are from the 1980s to 1990s.
