Founded in 1901 in Bellaire, Ohio, Imperial Glass rose to prominence after beginning full production in 1904, becoming one of America’s leading makers of pressed and cut-glass tableware. By 1909 the company had expanded into colored, iridescent, and eventually slag glass, with its richly marbled mid-century slag pieces, including the coveted purple tones, becoming collector favorites. This immaculate vintage Imperial purple slag glass lion dish is from the 1950s to 1960s.
