The Egyptian Revival period spanned from the 1880s to the 1930s. The aesthetic honored the Ancient Egyptian era through architecture, decor, art and jewelry. Americans first took notice of the Egyptian aesthetic with the translation of the Rosetta Stone in 1822 however it was the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922 that sprung its deepest infatuation. This Art Deco Egyptian Revival painting is from the 1930s and signed by A. Dolias.
