The original mold for the Moon and Star glass pattern was created by the Atterbury Glass Company in the late 19th century. They produced this distinctive mold, featuring stars and moon motifs, starting in the late 1880s. However, it's important to note that this pattern was not exclusive to a single glass company, and many glass manufacturers, including L.E. Smith and Westmoreland Glass Company, utilized the same mold or produced similar variations of the design. This practice of multiple glass companies using the same or similar molds was common in the glass industry, leading to various producers crafting their own versions of the Moon and Star pattern over time. This Westmoreland moon and star covered dish is from the 1960s to 1970s.
